A 22-year-old man receives life-threatening injuries in a collision on the Whitemouth Drive – Edmonton

A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries on Wednesday after a collision with Whitewood Drive, which occurred after police said two vehicles were moving on the highway.

At around 7 pm, police announced that a blue Chevrolet Camaro 2019 and an unidentified red car had been spotted driving east on Whitemud. As vehicles approached 53 Avenue off the ramp, officials said the Camaro left the road, crashed into a light pole and landed on its roof.

A 22-year-old man driving a Camaro has been taken to a life-threatening hospital, police said.

“Unfortunately, the speeds are high on all our main corridors in the city, but with the spring in the air, the speeds that our traffic officers see are completely dangerous and put the public at risk,” said the inspector. Keith Johnson of the EPS trafficking branch said in a press release.

Johnson said police have already stopped and written nearly 100 tickets this year to drivers who traveled more than 50 kilometers per hour above the announced limit.

“In the last week alone, we have issued a ticket to a driver who does 171 km / h in a 100 km / h zone and a motorcycle operator who does 166 km / h in a 100 km / h zone,” Johnson said.
