A second bus from Texas arrived near the US Capitol in Washington, just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday, carrying more than a dozen illegal immigrants as part of Texas Gov. Abbot’s new plan to counter federal immigration policies during the ongoing border crisis.
Abbott announced last week that he was managing the Texas Emergency Management Division (TDEM) to transport migrants released from federal detention in Texas to the nation’s capital and elsewhere outside his state.
TEXAS’S FIRST BUS RELEASES MIGRANTS STATE CAPITAL BLOCKS IN WASHINGTON, DC
Fourteen migrants got off the bus at the intersection of Union Station on First Street. The migrants are from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Colombia, a man said.

A man who introduced himself as Juan of Colombia told Fox News that he had flown to Mexico and crossed the Rio Grande in the United States.
Juan and his friend said they were going to New York to join their friends. Juan said he wanted to be a barber.
Capitol police arrived around 4:45 a.m. to ask questions. Members of a Catholic charity arrived waiting for the migrants, who began walking to Union Station around 4:47 a.m.
Arrival on Thursday follows that of the first bus to arrive in the nation’s capital on Wednesday morning. The bus also carried immigrants from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Colombia. Fox News has learned that they came from the Del Rio sector in Texas.
MIGRANTS TAKE SELFITS AT THE BORDER AFTER PASSING TO US
According to TDEM, Abbott’s plan is already working. The agency told Fox News on Monday that many of the communities that initially sought support – from the Rio Grande Valley to Terrell County – said the federal government had stopped allowing immigrants into their cities following Abbott’s April 6 announcement.

TDEM said it sent buses over the weekend to border communities, where it coordinated with officials to identify these immigrants. The agency added that each bus has the capacity and supplies needed to transport up to 40 migrants released in Texas communities and transport them to Washington, DC.
The governor’s legal authority to transport buses of migrants to the US Capitol remains in question. 2012 Supreme Court Arizona v. United States prevents states from pursuing their own immigration policies.

Abbott insists that the federal government is failing to adequately deal with the situation.
“Texans demand and deserve an aggressive, comprehensive strategy to secure our border – not President Biden’s weak leadership,” Abbott said in a statement. statement. “As the federal government continues to repeal common sense policies that once kept our communities safe, our local law enforcement has stepped up to protect Texans from dangerous criminals, deadly drugs and illegal smuggling invading Lone Star State.
