A woman is in danger of death after a collision at night in the city center.
Toronto police react to clashes in the area of King Street and Spadina Avenue on Thursday around 3:15 am
Police said a pedestrian believed to be in her 20s was hit by a vehicle and rushed to a critical emergency center.
Police have not yet identified the victim.
The vehicle, police said, stopped shortly after the accident and then fled the scene.
“(The vehicle started) south and from what we understand, at high speed. So they fled the area. They knew exactly what had happened and were fleeing, “said a sergeant. Murray Campbell told reporters at the scene.
There is no suspicious information about the driver.
However, police described the vehicle involved as a black Mercedes sedan with damage to the front.
“As you can see, there are some parts of the vehicle that are left at the scene here. “As part of our investigation, we will trace the parts of the vehicle to try to identify them,” Campbell said.
The southern lanes of Spadina Boulevard were closed early this morning for investigation, but then reopened.
Police are asking anyone who has information or recordings from the camera to contact them anonymously or with Crime Stoppers.
