Elon Musk applauds in response as Saudi prince talks about potential Twitter takeover

North Carolina spokesman Dan Bishop and Heritage Foundation researcher Kara Frederick are considering Elon Musk’s offer to buy Twitter from the Evening Newsroom.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded after Saudi billionaire Prince Alawalid bin Talal rejected his offer to buy Twitter for $ 43 billion.

“I do not believe that the offer offered by @elonmusk ($ 54.20) is close to the intrinsic value of @Twitter, given its growth prospects,” Alaweed tweeted on Thursday. “As one of the largest and long-term shareholders of Twitter, [Kingdom Holding Company] and I reject this offer. “

“Interesting,” Musk said cheekily on Twitter. “Just two questions, if I may. What part of Twitter does the Kingdom own, directly and indirectly? What are the Kingdom’s views on journalistic freedom of speech?

Saudi Arabia’s law does not provide for freedom of expression or freedom of the press, the US State Department said in 2018.

“The media and all other means of expression must use civic and polite language, contribute to the education of the nation and strengthen unity,” the Basic Law states. “The media is prohibited from engaging in acts that lead to disorder and division, affect the security of the state or its public relations, or undermine human dignity and rights.”

Authorities are responsible for regulating and determining which statements or expressions undermine internal security, and the government may ban or suspend the media if it finds that they have violated the law on the press and publications.

The Biden administration declassified a report last year, a report accusing Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of approving an operation to capture or assassinate journalist and dissident Jamal Kashoghi.

The justice ministry has indicted two former Twitter employees in 2019, accusing them of spying for Saudi Arabia to target critics of the regime. When podcast Alex Baredo turned his attention to Musk, he expressed interest in the story.

Musk’s Twitter moves boosted the company’s stock price.
