Johnny Depp’s defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard was adjourned until Monday after the third day of testimony in Virginia.
On Thursday, the testimony of witness Gina Doiters, a friend of Depp, was deleted from the record and was rejected after she admitted that she had seen videos of the trial online. Instead, video evidence was released by Dr. David Cyprus, who was treating the actor for addiction.
Earlier, recorded testimony from former Hurd’s assistant Kate James and the couple’s marriage counselor, Dr. Laurel Anderson, detailed their “mutual abuse.”
Depp claims that a 2018 article on domestic violence against women, written by Hurd, suggests that he was a rapist during their relationship. Although she did not name him, lawyers say her allegations have made it difficult for the actor to get roles in films.
He is seeking $ 50 million (£ 38.2 million) in damages during a trial in Fairfax County Court. Hurd filed a counterclaim against Depp for annoyance.
Earlier, Depp lost a defamation lawsuit in the United Kingdom against The Sun over Hurd’s same article.
