Prince Harry and Megan visited the Queen at Windsor Castle on their way to the Invictus Games.
The couple traveled to The Hague in the Netherlands for the games, which begin on Saturday, and visited the United Kingdom for the first time on Thursday after retiring as senior working royal members more than two years ago.
Of course, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also met with Prince Charles. The visit comes after Harry was absent from Prince Philip’s memorial service in London last month.
The duke is in the process of suing the interior ministry after being told he would no longer receive the same level of personal protection when visiting the United States, although he offered to pay for it himself.
Prince Harry wants to bring his children to visit, but he and his family “cannot return to his home” because it is too dangerous, his legal representative said.
However, Dai Davis, a former head of the royal defense at Scotland Yard, told PA Media this week that Harry was “not a security expert”.
“The truth is that I have no doubt that he will be protected, whether he takes his own team or the Dutch authorities give him some kind of VIP status,” he said, referring to possible security measures in The Hague.
“The truth is that if there is a risk, both countries – ours and the Netherlands – have complex systems for determining risk.
“This country has decided that he is no longer at risk. That may not be true, but people who are far more qualified than I am now can make that decision and never take it lightly. “
Harry and Megan chose to make their first public appearance together at Invictus Games almost five years ago. The duke founded the Games to challenge military veterans to compete in Paralympic sporting events.
