Carolina Panthers is talking about potential destinations for quarterback Baker Mayfield. Panthers successor Robbie Anderson is not a fan of this opportunity.
A USA Today fan profile on Instagram posted an article with a report by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport that the Panthers were the most likely destination for Mayfield. Anderson replied in one word: “Nooooooooooo.
Here is the reality. Players talk to other players. And there hasn’t been a single Browns player to speak on behalf of Mayfield in every turnaround. Most recently, for example, Mayfield said she believed Brown did not respect him. As far as we know, no current or former Browns player has publicly agreed with Mayfield.
There must be a reason for Anderson’s hostility to Mayfield. Maybe he talked to Odell Beckham Jr. or someone else who played with Mayfield. Someone like Jarvis Landry pictured talking to Anderson.
If there is something in this, then the question is whether other players from other teams will feel the same way. This is a fair question, whatever the answer. And that could be a very real obstacle to Mayfield’s ability to pursue a career anywhere.
