Russia’s state television says the invasion of Ukraine “has already escalated in World War III”

A Russian state television presenter said the reason why President Vladimir Putin’s “special operation” in Ukraine was taking so long was that the country had entered World War III against NATO.

The remarks of one of Russia’s most famous TV presenters follow a pitiful symbolic defeat for Moscow with the sinking of the flagship of its Black Sea Fleet, Moscow.

Host Olga Skabeeva called on Russia 1 viewers to “acknowledge” that the country is now “fighting against NATO’s infrastructure, if not against NATO itself.”

She said, “A lot of people say, ‘Can’t it be faster?'” Everyone wants it to be faster. Everyone would like a clear victory. Everyone would like all the set goals to be met.

“Otherwise, it is generally impossible to accept the special operation we started – the special operation of Russia in Ukraine.

The presenter continued: “What escalates in the Third World War can be boldly called that. This is absolutely certain.

“Right now we are definitely fighting against NATO’s infrastructure, if not against NATO itself. We have to admit that. “

This happened when the 610-foot flagship “Moscow” sank on Thursday while being towed back to the port, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.

Russian defense officials said the ammunition on board the ship exploded in an unexplained fire, but Ukraine said it had hit the ship with its Neptune missiles.

Moscow has denied an attack on the warship and said its missile launchers were intact.

The loss of Moscow has dealt another blow to the Russian offensive as it prepares for a new attack in the Eastern Donbass region, which is likely to determine the outcome of the conflict.

In a speech Thursday, President Vladimir Zelensky told Ukrainians they should be proud to have survived 50 days under Russian siege when the invaders “gave us a maximum of five”.

Enumerating the ways in which Ukraine has defended itself against pressure, Zelensky mentioned “those who have shown that Russian warships can sail, even if they are to the bottom” at sea. This was his only mention of Moscow.

Elsewhere, the Kremlin said today that its forces had hit a military target on the outskirts of Kyiv overnight with cruise missiles before promising to strike more at the Ukrainian capital in response to its attacks on Russian targets.

Powerful explosions were reported in Kyiv following Moscow’s announcement of Moscow’s fate.

A statement from the Ministry of Defense said that its missile strikes on Kyiv during the night had hit the Vizar factory on the outskirts of the city, which they said had been producing and repairing missiles, including anti-ship missiles.

“The number and scale of missile strikes on targets in Kyiv will increase in response to any terrorist attacks or acts of sabotage on Russian territory carried out by the Kiev nationalist regime,” the ministry added.
