Scotland Yard said on Thursday that Theon had been attacked in broad daylight in a “busy area” and called on witnesses to contact.
“I would like to thank those who have already come forward and talked to the police about what they saw, but I know there will be others who are yet to do so,” said DCI’s Nigel Penny, who is leading the murder investigation.
“I urge you to contact us and provide us with any information you have, no matter how insignificant it may seem. We are building a picture of the events that led to Theon’s murder, and your information may be an important part of that picture.
“I would also turn to anyone who filmed or filmed the events during this attack; again – please contact us and share what you have. “

Police promised additional officers in the area after the “senseless attack”, as they said they were aware of the “concern and shock” in the community.
“I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives is investigating Theon’s murder, and they will do everything in their power to identify and arrest those responsible,” said Detective Superintendent Danny Gosling of Met’s Southeast Command.
“But they need your help, and I would urge those who have information to do the right thing for Theon’s family and friends and tell the police what you know.
“Residents of the New Cross area will see an increased police presence in the coming days, including local officials. If you have any concerns or information that may help you, please contact them and speak to them. “
A 41-year-old dog walker who encountered the fight told Standard: “It was a massacre, all hell broke loose. I had noticed some boys hanging out near the community center and I heard that there was a bad atmosphere.
“I can’t put my finger on it, but there was tension. The next minute, one boy was bleeding on the ground, others scattering in all directions.
“There were shouts and people trying to help the wounded boy. The police came quickly and drove us away from the scene. Then came an air ambulance. It was very disturbing. “
