Ottawa police are investigating what they called the murder of an elderly man at the Smith Road residence.

An online post from the Ottawa Police Department said Friday night that the man was found dead at Smith’s home, east of Children’s Hospital in eastern Ontario and between Hague and Saunderson roads, around 3 p.m.

An unidentified person has been detained, police said.
