The shockingly stabbing death of a young professional in his luxury portfront apartment may have been “a robber who went off the rails,” a police source told The Toronto Sun.

Daniel Hoffman, 31, who worked in financial services, was killed Wednesday in his apartment near York and St. Harbor.

“He was a professional, but he had some drug and alcohol problems,” said a Toronto police source. “We think it was a good moment that may have started as a robbery and just gotten out of hand. This is one of the possibilities we are considering. “

A man and two women have been arrested for Hoffman’s murder.

The victim and his accused killers knew each other through “wicked interests”, the police source added.

The leading investigator is a children’s sergeant. Stephen Matthews confirmed that the robbery was one of the possible motives that investigators are considering.

“I can tell you that we have a lot of videos and that the countries have known each other,” he said.

All the accused are known to the police.

“Two boys, two girls, you’re doing the math,” a police source said.

A friend of the dead man told Scott Laurie of The Sun on Friday that Hoffman’s father was on his way to Toronto to pick up his son to enjoy Easter in Windsor with his family before the young victim left for New York for work and then to Miami for a friend’s deer.

“His father was coming to pick him up,” said his friend Sylvain. – Can you imagine how he should feel?

But detectives were in the top three almost from the start, thanks to the extensive security apparatus around Hoffman’s building.

“Let’s rob an apartment, no one will see us, we will get away,” said a police source.
