The Ottawa Police Homicide Squad is investigating the death of an elderly man found on Good Friday.
Police were called to Block 800 on Smith Road – southeast of downtown Ottawa – around 3pm on Friday, where 87-year-old Richard Rutherford of Ottawa was found dead.
Philip Heber, a 69-year-old man from Ottawa, has been charged with second-degree murder.
Hebert appeared in court Saturday morning and remains in custody.
Police are investigating the murder of an elderly man. Employees were called to a residence in block 800 of Smyth Rd. around 3 pm today, where the man was found dead. One person is in custody.
