The high-speed pursuit in Surrey ended in a collision of several vehicles: RCMP – BC

A man was arrested Thursday after a high-speed police chase in Surrey that ended dramatically.

Surrey RCMP said the incident began just before 4pm when officers tried to stop a vehicle with uninsured, unattached signs near Scott Road and 102 Avenue.

When the driver failed to stop, Mountis said they tried to use a spiked belt on the vehicle, but it continued to drift away on the wrong side of the road on 120th Street.

Police tracked down the driver by helicopter and an unmarked police vehicle eventually collided with the suspect’s car, “as he hit him in two civilian vehicles,” an RCMP spokesman said.

No one was injured in the crash, according to police.

The suspect was a banned driver, police said and was detained pending an investigation into dangerous driving.
