Travis McLeod, who was wanted for the deaths of his wife and two children, was arrested by Winnipeg police on Friday night.
The Manitoba RCMP said Winnipeg Police Department arrested McLeod downtown around 8:30 p.m., saying the arrest was without incident.
The RCMP said McLeod had been handed over to major crime services.
McLeod was wanted on three counts of second-degree murder and one arson after his family was found dead early Sunday in a fire-damaged duplex in Portage la Prairie.
The victims were identified as a 32-year-old woman, her six-year-old daughter and her three-year-old son.
McLeod was initially detained on Sunday, but was released, with the RCMP saying they did not have enough evidence to detain him.
After McLeod’s release, he was told to stay at a specific address in Portage and to stay away from the five people listed in the release order.
The RCMP later said McLeod was believed to be in Winnipeg, and he was later spotted downtown on Tuesday, both at the Millennium Library and at the downtown Skywalk system.
The RCMP thanked Winnipeg police for their help with the arrest and said more information would be provided when available.
The charges against McLeod have not been proven in court.
