It has been confirmed! The long-awaited WhatsApp Communities feature is coming to your app! But what will change with this new feature? Find out here.
Putting an end to years of development and updates around the long-awaited feature, WhatsApp has finally announced a group-related feature, Communities. Along with several other new features such as emoji responses, administrator access to delete problematic messages, greater file sharing and up to 32 participants in one audio call, the Community feature has finally made its place available for WhatsApp. Although, immediately available to all users at the moment, but over time everyone, including you, will experience the communities of WhatsApp. Now you must be wondering what is all about this new feature of WhatsApp? Let’s explain.
WhatApp Communities: How does it work?
Before we look at the working mechanism of this new feature of WhatsApp, let’s understand what exactly WhatApp Communities means. Simply put, this is a feature that will allow WhatsApp users to organize multiple group chats in one place. It will form a kind of community of multiple WhatsApp groups with a more or less similar purpose as a WhatsApp group. The Meta messaging app believes that this way, people can receive updates sent to the entire community and easily organize smaller discussion groups about what matters to them.
So what is the need for communities when we already have groups on WhatsApp? The instant messaging app answers in a blog post! It says: “Organizations such as schools, local clubs and non-profit organizations are already relying on WhatsApp to communicate securely and do things. We believe we can do more to make it easier for people to manage these busy conversations between these types of groups. “This is where the need for Communities comes from.
“Communities will also contain powerful new tools for administrators”
The new WhatsApp communities will also give new powers to WhatsApp group administrators. Basically, this will be the administrator responsible for creating and managing an entire community on WhatsApp. The administrator will have the power to choose which group will be part of the community either by creating a new one or by adding the existing WhatsApp groups to the community. They will also be able to end the relationship of groups or even an individual member. Provide more control over the content management that is shared in these communities, as administrators will be able to delete inappropriate or abusive messages or media for all members of the group.
