The Ukrainian armed forces said on Sunday that while Russia continues to prepare reinforcements for the offensive in the east, its troops are facing supply problems.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Ukrainian armed forces said that “the Russian military is constantly complaining about the lack of rotation, equipment that is constantly being refused, the quality of food and fuel delivered.”
Ukraine reported relatively little fighting during the night, but said Russia continues to carry out air strikes on Mariupol, where Ukrainian units surrounded by the steel plant are still resisting.
The armed forces also claim that in areas under Russian occupation, “looting and violence by the Russian military against civilians continues. These actions are encouraged by their military command.”
A joint operation by Ukraine, which is responsible for military action in the east, said 10 attacks by Russian troops were repulsed on Saturday and that 15 Russian tanks and other equipment were destroyed.
Some Russian shelling continued into the night, according to regional authorities.
Sergei Haidai, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said four high-rise buildings in the city of Severodonetsk had been hit and set on fire. He did not provide details about the victims.
Earlier, Haidai estimated that 70% of the city had already been destroyed.
“There is almost nothing to destroy there. The enemy has destroyed most of the housing stock in the last six weeks,” Haidai said.
Haidai also said one man was injured in the shelling of the nearby town of Kremina.
