Two people were killed in a shooting early Sunday morning at a large party in Pittsburgh, the city’s public safety department said. At least nine people were injured in the shooting.
The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. on an Airbnb rental in the East Allegheny neighborhood, also known as Deutschtown, on the north coast of Pittsburgh, the department said in a statement. About 200 people, many of them minors, attended the party, according to the statement.
“About 50 rounds of ammunition were fired inside, prompting some partygoers to jump out of windows, injuring them with broken bones and tears,” the statement said. “Several more shots were fired outside the home.
The dead victims are also minors, the department said. Ambulances took some of the victims with firearms to local hospitals, while others arrived at the hospitals alone.
The evidence was processed at eight separate crime scenes, and detectives questioned witnesses and viewed videos, the department said. It also says that “several young people” have been spotted fleeing the area.
