Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Police in Houston found a dead body in a large U-Haul box in front of an apartment in southwest Houston on Sunday afternoon.
The HPD says they received a call around 2pm from a resident, there was a suspicious package at a parking space in a residential complex located in block 7000 on Bissonnet Street near Beechnut Street.

“After the package was found by Houston police, they noticed that a man had died in the box,” said HPD detective Matthew Huey.
Surveillance footage shows a man carrying a U-Haul box on a cart and dropping it near a parking lot in the complex, Huey said.
Investigators say they identified the man from the crime scene.
“I couldn’t comment on his motivation for coming back on stage,” Huey said.
The man, who is considered to be of interest, was found in the complex and taken for questioning.
Despite the alarming details, many residents of the apartment complex are not phased in due to how often crimes occur there.
“It’s something regular here,” said resident Ashley Garcia. “There’s always something going on in this complex. There’s not much security. So finding a body box isn’t shocking.”
