The suspect, who allegedly pushed a woman on the rails at a Toronto subway station on Sunday night, is now wanted on a charge of attempted murder, police said.
The incident happened at Yonge station shortly after 9 p.m.
When ambulances arrived, they found the victim conscious and breathing, police said.
She was rushed to a trauma center in a serious but stable condition.
Police initially said the woman was hit by the train, but said she was injured in the crash.
Toronto police released a surveillance image of the suspect on Monday in an attempt to identify her.
Police described the suspects as blond hair with a medium build. It is said that she was last seen wearing a gray Lewis shirt, a black jacket, black trousers, white shoes, pink and gray heels and a gray bag.
It is unclear why the suspect pushed the woman, and police say there is no reason to believe the two women knew each other.
The incident caused the TTC to suspend subway service on line 2 between St. George and Broadview. Trains on line 1 also bypassed Bloor-Yonge station due to the accident.
Regular traffic on both subway lines resumed shortly after 11 p.m.
This is the second time in five months that someone has been pushed onto the tracks at Bloor-Yonge Subway Station. On November 26, police said a suspect pushed a man who fell on the rails as a train approached. In that case, 26-year-old Toronto resident Tasho Shipinkas turned himself in to police. He is accused of aggravated assault.
