Taika Whitey directed Thor: Love and Thunder, part of the fourth phase of MCU.
Marvel fans are pushing for something like a Thor: Love and Thunder trailer, given that it’s only coming out in a few months. Now their wish has been granted. Marvel has just released a long teaser for the film, directed by Taika Whitey.
Whitey signed for the fourth installment of Thor’s films in 2019, adapting elements from Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comics. (He had read them while doing Ragnarok.) This story shows that Jane Foster was diagnosed with breast cancer and eventually became Mighty Thor. Natalie Portman, who plays Foster in the franchise, said both elements will be in the film.
In fact, we haven’t seen Portman’s Foster from The Dark World since 2013. The character has always been one of the least interesting, to be honest. But Portman agreed to reprise his role after meeting Whitey, who promised a new look for the hero and if her mastery, Mölnir would definitely qualify. (The Internet came to life when Portman’s filming expired in March 2021, showing how much muscle the little actress gained for the role.)

Here’s what we know from the official synopsis:
The film takes Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey different from anything he has encountered – the search for inner peace. But his retirement was interrupted by a galactic assassin known as Gore, the Butcher God (Christian Bale), who is seeking the disappearance of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Whitey) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably controls her magic hammer Mölnir as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark on a torturous space adventure to unravel the mystery of the revenge of the butcher God and stop him before it’s too late.
Also joining forces with Thor are the Guardians of the Galaxy: Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star Lord; Pom Clementief as a mantis; Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer; Karen Gillan like a nebula; Vin Diesel voices Grut; and Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri, Yondu’s former deputy commander. (James Gunn consulted with the script, as this film will help create Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, scheduled for 2023). Whitey will return as Cronan’s gladiator, Korg, and Jeff Goldblum will reprise his role as Grandmaster, ruler of the planet Saqqara. Melissa McCarthy will play Hella, and Russell Crowe will make a cameo as Zeus.

Prepared in the pleasant tones of “Sweet Child O ‘Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, the teaser begins with Thor, who is considering his future. “These hands were once used for battle,” we hear him say. “Now they are just modest instruments of peace. I need to know exactly who I am. I want to choose my own path.” Look, Thor has been through a lot, between the harrowing events of Ragnarok, Infinity War and Endgame, losing most of his family and all but a handful of Asgardians. So who can blame him for not wanting to be a superhero anymore, preferring to just “live in the moment”, man?
Thor’s personal journey begins with getting in shape, making ropes as a champion (only, with chains, because it’s Thor) and soon he returns to excellent fighting form – he’s just not so interested in battle. No doubt there will be battles, drama and a bit of romance, but there is still a lot of that distinctive Waititi humor. “Remember what I told you,” Quill tells his crew. “Have you ever felt lost? Just look into the eyes of the people you love.” The camera focuses on the Guardians. And then Thor’s smiling face appears, which makes Quill a little awkward. “What?” I’m just listening, “says Thor.
Zoom in / If there was a hammer: Natalie Portman rules Mölnir like the Mighty Thor.

She has a brief look at Zeus Crowe and Valkyrie Thompson, who look like a boss in a chic suit (reminiscent of her role Men in Black: International). We don’t see Gore, so it’s not clear how close the character will be to the comics. Gore from the comic has a deadly cloak of tentacles and rules the killer god All-Black Necromancer, forged by the same primordial deity who created the symbiotes that eventually became Venom. So there are some visually impressive job opportunities.

At least we can finally see Portman with Mölnir as the Mighty Thor in the last frame; it looks wonderfully sour. And is this the “Goat Boat” (introduced in February as the official LEGO kit) taking off to give Thor a new adventure? (The two LEGO goats are called Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder and they pull the ship.) Waititi called Thor: Love and Thunder the “craziest movie” he ever made, “like 10-year-olds told us what a movie should be about. and we said “yes” to everything. ”Our inner 10-year-olds are eager to see more.
Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022.
