Elijah Lewis’ mother, NH boy, found dead in Massachusetts charged with murder

Lewis was last seen at his home in Merimac, New York, within a month of his disappearance, which was reported on October 14, 2021, authorities said.

Dauphin “continues to be detained without bail,” the statement said. “The indictment will be scheduled in the Supreme Court of Hillsborough County – South District of Nashua.”

Jaye L. Rancourt, a lawyer for Dauphinais, said in an email that her client denies wrongdoing.

“My client claims she is innocent of these recent allegations,” Rankour wrote.

The indictment alleges that Dauphin “was extremely cruel or corrupt in killing Elijah Lewis.” The document does not specify how she allegedly killed her son, although it is alleged that she “deliberately” caused his death between September 27, 2020 and September 24, 2021.

The indictment also alleges that on or about October 14, the same day Elijah was reported missing, Dauphiné asked two people identified as Bruce Scherzer and Tracy Dauphiné to tell child protection officials that the boy was with them, “when in fact he was not.”

The indictment also alleges that Daniel Dauphiné also told a woman identified as Joan Stapf not to talk to child protection officials about Elijah. Daniel Dauphiné’s boyfriend, Joseph Stapf, is accused of endangering children and falsifying witnesses in connection with the case.

Just four months before Elijah’s death, Dauphin claimed to have told a friend that she could no longer control the boy, compared him to serial killers and said she wanted him to leave.

Daniel Dauphiné, 35, has complained to a childhood friend about text reports that Elijah Luis, the fourth of her six children, has become rebellious and disobedient, according to screenshots of the conversation previously viewed by Globe.

“I call him the next Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dammer,” Dauphiné wrote. “It’s so sad, but I have nothing to do with this child.”

“It’s getting worse and worse,” Dauphiné added of her son, whose remains were found in Abington, Massachusetts on Oct. 23. frantic, 10-day search by law enforcement in at least five states.

The candid reports offered a disturbing look at the last months of Elijah’s short and tumultuous life, in which he was transferred between his parents in Arizona and New Hampshire and cared for by adults with many criminal and personal struggles.

Messages sent via the Snapchat app between Dauphiné and Erica Wolfe were shared with Globe by Wolfe, who has known Dauphiné since they were both teenagers in New Hampshire. Another of Dauphiné’s friends, Michelle O’Brien, confirmed that Wolfe had previously shared the reports.
