Owner of a cafe in Cornwall, furious after the brutal explosion of a Londoner

A cafe owner shared his disgust after a tourist was allegedly abused by him and his wife before calling all Cornish residents “inherently lazy.” Chris Dixon, who owns the Holy Mackerel Café in Helford near Helston, said the man was angry when they refused to serve him because he “wanted” to be served food after the café had already closed its kitchen.

Chris told CornwallLive: “We closed the kitchen at 3pm and the man and his partner came in shortly after asking for food. When we explained that the kitchen was already closed, he started asking us to have what he could see cooking in the oven behind us, but that was for another customer who had already ordered it.

“When we refused to serve him, he became more and more annoyed before he made a crazy joke about the people of Cornwall. He first asked me if I was Cornish, and when I said no and asked him if he was, he made fun of me and said absolutely no. He then said that Cornish people were so poor because they were too lazy to work, and said that Londoners like him kept the Cornish alive. “

Chris added that while this incident made him incredibly angry, it was unfortunately a regular occurrence for him. He said last summer was particularly bad for them in terms of receiving verbal insults from customers following the boom in stays as a result of the blockade.

“After the man finished his crazy applause for us, he gave up,” he said. “I couldn’t believe how rude he was with us, it will just be another year for us, but we don’t want him again. People come to Cornwall expecting it to be open 24/7, but we are not Benidorm, we are in Helford, which is a small village.

“At least once a week we get abused by people, but not as bad as this person. I don’t want another recurrence, it’s too early in the season.”

Chris said the whole situation made his blood boil and decided to post about it on the cafe’s Facebook page to warn other local companies about the man. The full post reads: “I am calling all Cornish companies. This man abused us in the café today, barking that “all Cornish people are lazy by nature and that they need Londoners like him to survive without them, we are nothing.”

“Tell him how you feel about this, if he wants to eat or be served at your place, he’s obviously visiting Cornwall a lot, and we need to treat him better.” We were locked up and obviously didn’t serve him. “

The publication has been shared more than 50 times and has reached thousands of people who have shared their disgust with the situation. Another local pub said the man also mistreated employees there.

Christina Starr said: “This man came to Shipwrights today and my daughter served him. He was late for lunch and said, ‘That’s why Cornwall is so poor.’ Go back to London.”
