Prince Harry and Megan Markle are surrounded by Obama guards at Invictus Games

Megan Markle and Prince Harry arrived at the Invictus Games yesterday, surrounded by five bodyguards, including former Barack Obama defender, as they continue to challenge the government’s refusal to pay for their security.

The Sussex family was protected during the matches by a security team, including Christopher Sanchez, who was spotted with the couple as Harry rode his car to the Zuiderpark athletics arena in The Hague.

Sanchez spent five years as part of the US Secret Service, spending two and a half years with Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

Megan was sitting in the front seat while four bodyguards were traveling in the back of another Land Rover.

They jumped out of the vehicle as Harry stopped on the grass edge in front of the athletes’ entrance and formed a protective shield around the pair.

All five guards wore headphones, but there were no visible traces of firearms among them.

Harry and Megan have been granted VVIP status (a very important person) and are protected by local police and members of the Dutch Royal Protection Unit.

Harry was absent from the Duke of Edinburgh’s memorial service in London last month amid a lawsuit against the Home Office after he was told he would no longer receive the same level of personal protection when visiting the United States, although he offered to pay for it himself. . . However, on a secret visit on Thursday, he and Megan arrived in the United Kingdom and had brief meetings with Prince Charles and Camilla, as well as the Queen.

On Saturday, Megan Markle made a thin trench in the royal family after telling Invictus Games contestants that they know what a “favor” is, after making a previous blow to the queen for using the word during a dispute with Megxit.

On Sunday morning, Megan changed the luster of her white dress from the shoulder during the opening ceremony with a more casual look with jeans, a white coat and a pair of brown suede style shoes.

The couple spoke briefly with staff gathered at the entrance while security guards watched.

Harry was seen embracing Dave Hanson, a former adviser to the Royal Army Engineer, who lost both his legs when he stood at the EID in Helmand in 2011.

Later on Sunday, Prince Harry himself attended an indoor archery event as Megan returned to the private house where they stayed during the Games.

Megan is expected to fly back to California on Easter Monday, and sources said Harry is unlikely to show up at Zuiderpark, where the games are being held.

He will be in The Hague until the closing ceremony on Friday night, where he will deliver a short speech with King Willen-Alexander of the Netherlands.

All the bodyguards – two of whom are believed to be officers from the Dutch Royal Defense Forces – stood in a protective circle around the entrance.

The other two, who wore Invictus jackets, are believed to be from the couple’s private security company.

With few people around, the bodyguards were calm and allowed spectators to walk past them to take pictures.

When one of the Invictus volunteers asked Harry if he could take a selfie, the prince said, “I don’t have time now and I’m going to take one of the exits.”

The couple watched the start of the athletics class before attending the volleyball event.

The afternoon session saw Prince Harry attend an indoor archery competition while Megan was seen reading a book.

The couple is followed by a Netflix film crew that is making a documentary series as part of their Archewell deal for £ 100 million with the streaming giant.

A team of 30 people has been appointed to monitor the couple to gather material on what is expected to be a three-part series.

One of the organizers said that the Netflix team had arrived in carriers of six people with loaded boxes of equipment.

The crew of the film received chestnut bibs to help them stand out from the dozens of photographers covering the games, and was given exclusive access to the couple with a meeting behind the door with the athletes.

The shooting has already taken place, as Harry and Megan met with members of the Ukrainian team, who received repeated applause from other competitors.

Both Harry and Megan paid tribute to the courage of the contestants.

The film’s crews have been spotted for the documentary “Heart of Invictus”, which will be shown on Netflix during the Invictus Games in The Hague

Prince Harry showed his playful side while making a “high five” with two young fans waiting to see the founder of Invictus Games.

He pretended to tremble in pain as the young children slapped his arm as he leaned out the window on the side of his Land Rover defender’s driver.

Megan smiled from the passenger seat as Harry laughed and shook his hand in feigned pain.

The two young fans were later identified as young reporters for a new digital channel aimed at giving children a voice.

Harry was interviewed by the couple – in the presence of Netflix cameras – and knelt touchingly to hug them.

The meeting was revealed in a tweet by one of the writers of De Kindercorrespondent Tako Rietveld.

Harry is said to have told the children as part of the interview “I want all children to grow up in a private world.”

Harry and Megan personalized their appearance at the Hague Games by referring to their young children Archie and Lily.
