Protesters against old growth block main road in Vancouver Easter Monday – British Columbia

Anti-Growth Saving Group Save Old Growth says its supporters blocked all lanes of the Grandview Highway on Vancouver’s Boundary Road on Monday.

It says that one man is at the top of a high ladder and another man has stuck his hand to the roadway.

They say 80 of their supporters have been arrested in a series of similar blockades on Highway 1 on the North Shore and in Burnaby, Victoria and Revelstoke since January.

The group aims to force the provincial government to ban all felling of old trees, not the whole felling.

On its website, Save Old Growth said the blockades were “part of an ongoing escalation that requires an end to the felling of old growth.” Arrests are expected.
