Scrambler Bicycle, which makes “wheels” on Crosby Beach, sees a huge emergency response

Emergency services descended on Crosby Beach on Monday night after seeing a bicycle with a strap reportedly causing chaos.

Several police officers, as well as Coast Guard and rescue volunteers, were spotted gathering on Crosby Beach on Monday night. Eyewitnesses said two police helicopters were also spotted circling the area after a bicycle with a scrambler was seen on the beach shortly after 7 p.m.

Dozens of people were spotted crowding around to watch the scenes of the beach, which appears to have been cleared by people, with the exception of the red motorbike, which was seen “touring” the shore. The photos taken by ECHO show crowds gathering while the scrambler rider “makes wheels”.

Merseyside police have confirmed that they were called at around 1.50pm to report a group of men riding off-road bikes at Mariners Road, Liverpool. Police spotted Queens Road motorcycles and arrested two men in the area on suspicion of stealing a motor vehicle and assisting an offender.

A BMW 4×4 motor vehicle and an off-road scrambler were seized by the police. After a police chase, a man climbed a beach near Crosby Marine Lake and stopped the vehicle.

Another photo taken by ECHO seems to show search and rescue volunteers waiting nearby, some of whom approached a rider wearing a bright green helmet. Many people turned to social media to express their confusion as to why the emergency services were in place on Monday (April 18th).

One man wrote that the bicycle had been “on the beach for three hours”, while another noted that a police helicopter was circling the area. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the motorcycle caused chaos because it “avoided the police”.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) confirmed to ECHO that RNLI volunteers “assist with other search and rescue agencies”.

Merseyside police have confirmed that there is a precautionary measure around the beach and that a National Police Service (NPAS) helicopter is on the scene as officers collide with the man. Public figures are advised to avoid the area while the incident continues.

A spokesman added: “We would like to thank locals and businesses for their patience as we deal with this incident.”
