Numerous flights to and from Pearson International Airport have been delayed due to a technical problem affecting Sunwing Airlines.
The airline told CP24 that “a system-wide system problem has affected check-in and boarding”, leading to flight delays.
Sunwing’s website currently lists dozens of delayed flights, including at least 10 departing from Pearson International Airport.
Most of the flights are delayed by several hours.
No deadline has been set for the restoration of normal service.
“We sincerely regret the impact this has on our customers’ travel plans and are working hard with our technology provider to resolve the issue as soon as possible so that scheduled flights can resume,” a Sunwing spokesman said. “Every effort is being made to inform passengers of the impact on their flights where possible, and we strongly encourage all departing customers to check the status of their flight the next day before heading to the airport.
The spokesman said the problem with the system affected “several operators worldwide”, including Sunwing.
A passenger who was due to fly to Aruba early this morning told CP24 that his flight was now delayed from 6:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.
But he said it was unclear whether it would actually take off as planned.
“Stress. This is the word stress. “I’m trying to get nervous and you know it doesn’t help,” he said. “Compose everywhere. But you know it’s just one of those things, and you have to have the same patience. “
Sunwing said anyone who has a departure flight in the next 12 to 24 hours should check the status of their flight.
He said he would provide customers with additional updates on the issue as far as he can.
