It was a race Malindi Elmore of Kelowna had never experienced before.

Elmore was in Boston on Monday for the 126th run of the legendary Boston Marathon and, along with thousands of runners, Elmore says the entire city seems to be off track.

The Boston Marathon on Monday was the first in three years since the 2020 and 2021 races were canceled due to COVID-19.

“Literally 26 miles of people applaud you all the way,” Elmore told Castanet News after the race.

“It’s unbelievable. There’s nothing like it.”

This was the first time she competed in Boston.

Elmore finished 11th overall and second in the Masters in two hours, 27 minutes and 58 seconds.

Weather was the standard for the World Cup, according to a post on social media by Athletics Canada.

She finished a little further back than she had hoped. The entry goal was Top 10 or higher.

But overall, the day is not bad, given that she says she did not feel best.

“The day was quite challenging. A very difficult course and I didn’t feel as good as I had hoped.”

The competition was held in ideal conditions, sunny and cool, but not cold.

This is the first marathon Elmore has run since finishing ninth at the Tokyo Olympics last summer.

As the races increase as much of the world reopens, Elmore will have a choice of events in the coming months.

However, she says she has not yet decided on a schedule or when she can compete again.

Her goal is still to participate in another Olympics, the 2024 Games in Paris.
