Twitter users have been asking for an edit button for years, and it looks like their wish will be fulfilled soon enough. Earlier this month, Twitter confirmed that it was working on an edit button and would be available to Twitter Blue subscribers in the coming months. Although Twitter has not revealed much about the feature and how it will work, we now have a first look at the edit button thanks to the leak.
Renowned reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi managed to get hold of the upcoming edit button and shared several screenshots showing what the feature will look like when it appears to users.

After posting a tweet, users will have access to the new “Edit Tweet” button from the three-point menu. Clicking on it brings up your original tweet. From there, you can make the necessary edits and click the blue “Update” button to reflect the changes.
Separately, developer Nima Owji revealed additional details about the Edit Tweet button. A GIF shared by Owji shows the whole tweet editing exercise. Owji says that it is currently not possible to change the audience of a tweet after it is published – you can only edit the textual content.

It is unclear whether Twitter will allow users to change only a small portion of the tweet or all content. It is also unclear how many times a person can edit a tweet and whether other users can see what has changed and when. Similarly, we don’t know how Twitter will handle retweets and quote tweets in edited tweets.
Twitter has not confirmed exactly when it plans to start testing the edit button. The feature will be part of Twitter Blue, a subscription service that offers features such as the ability to cancel tweets, reading mode, bookmarks folders, etc., for a fixed monthly fee.
