“Take my mother home,” said the daughter of a captured Ukrainian paramedic
Several Western countries have pledged additional support for Ukraine, including the United States, Canada, Britain, France and Germany.
“We will continue to provide them with more ammunition as we provide them with more military aid,” said White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki.
Russia’s new attack on eastern Ukraine includes “continuous bombing of civilian neighborhoods” in eastern Kharkiv on Sunday, Mayor Igor Terekhov told CNN.
The new attack on the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine could last “several months”, a senior British national security official warned the British government.
The official warned Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who then told a weekly Downing Street cabinet meeting that Ukraine’s position was “dangerous” as Vladimir Putin was believed to be striving for victory “regardless of human cost”.
This comes after Putin’s forces launched a new attack on eastern Ukraine, where they took control of the city of Kremina.
“Kremina is under the control of the Orcs (Russians). They entered the city, “said District Governor Sergei Gaidai at a briefing.
“Our defenders had to withdraw. They have established themselves in new positions and continue to fight the Russian army.

Russia gives new deadline for capitulation of Ukrainians in Mariupol
Russia has set a new deadline for the surrender of Ukrainian fighters detained in Mariupol as it insists on a decisive victory in its offensive in the east.
The renewed warning came after Moscow’s previous ultimatum was dropped at midnight without a single Ukrainian soldier dropping his weapon.
“Russia’s armed forces, based solely on humanitarian principles, are once again proposing that fighters from nationalist battalions and foreign mercenaries cease hostilities from 14:00 Moscow time on April 20 and lay down their arms,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Russian troops, who have so far failed to capture any of Ukraine’s largest cities in the eight-week war, are advancing in what Kiev authorities have called the Battle of Donbass.
The invaders, backed by artillery and rocket fire, hit the Azovstal steel plant, the main remaining fortress in Mariupol, a presidential adviser said late Tuesday.
The world is watching the killing of children online and is silent, “adviser Mihail Podoliak wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, the United States, Canada and Britain said they would send more artillery weapons to the country.

Journalists reporting on Ukraine’s crisis need to gather evidence of potential war crimes
The body of a teenager with his hands tied, shot in the back in the woods near a Russian trench.
An underground torture chamber where eight people say they were held and ill-treated under a train station. Buyers torn by banned cluster munitions while buying supplies. Children were shot when they escaped a brutal siege.
In the last six weeks I have spent in Ukraine, on almost every street in every city affected by the Russian invasion, I have come across evidence of possible violations of international law and possible war crimes. This is confusing.

Greece confiscates Russian oil tanker
Greece has confiscated a Russian oil tanker off the island of Evia, the Greek Coast Guard said on Tuesday, as part of European Union sanctions imposed on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier this month, the EU banned Russian-flagged ships from the 27-nation bloc’s ports, with some exceptions, as it adopted new broad sanctions against Russia for what the Kremlin describes as a “special military operation.”
The 115,500-tonne-flagged deadweight, with 19 Russian crew members on board, was captured near Karistos on the southern coast of Evia, near the Greek mainland near Athens.
The Russian embassy in Athens, the Greek capital, said on Twitter that it was investigating the case and was in contact with Greek authorities.
“It has been seized as part of EU sanctions,” said a Greek shipping ministry official.

NATO is not ready for war with Russia, warns the British general
NATO is not ready for war with Russia, warned a British general.
Allies have supported Ukraine with arms and financial assistance since the beginning of the Russian invasion, but are careful to avoid any action that could involve them in the war.
General Sir Richard Barnes, Head of the Joint Forces Command 2013-16, was asked during a hearing on the UK Parliamentary Defense Committee on Tuesday at which point NATO would have no choice but to fight Russia.

Hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ money in the UK revealed to companies still operating in Russia
Hundreds of millions of pounds of British taxpayers’ money are being transferred to companies that continue to operate in Russia, reveals The Independent.
The government even signed multimillion-dollar deals with these companies during the war in Ukraine, it became clear.
The UK has active contracts worth at least £ 294,803,502 with 15 multinational companies still doing business in Russia, according to an analysis by The Independent. Ministers have been urged to sever ties with these companies and cancel all recently signed contracts.

Montana Republican Sen. Steve Danes says Putin is a “terrorist” committing “war crimes.”
Montana Republican Sen. Steve Danes was in Eastern Europe last week when he accepted an offer to become the first U.S. senator to visit Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion nearly two months ago.
What Mr. Danes saw there made a strong impression. Asked directly whether Russian President Vladimir Putin was a “terrorist” in an interview with Newsy’s Maritsa Georgiou on Tuesday, the Republican senator said yes.
“He is committing war crimes,” Mr Danes said. “He is committing atrocities. And he must be responsible for that. “

Why does the UK’s emergency humanitarian aid to Ukraine take so long?
It seems that there will always be something about a military weapon that attracts more attention than a package of food.
So it is with the war in Ukraine, where the West sincerely congratulates itself on sending Ukrainians what military types call “deadly aid” and not things that save lives in other ways, such as drugs, pure water, shelter and livelihood.
Not surprisingly, politicians tend to want to connect to state-of-the-art missile systems and ignore the embarrassing fact that some Western countries are still buying Russian oil and gas and failing to help the millions of displaced people and refugees inside and fleeing. Ukraine.

The West promises more support for Ukraine
The United States, Canada, Britain, France and Germany have pledged more support for Ukraine.
“We will continue to provide them with more ammunition as we provide them with more military aid,” said White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki, adding that new sanctions were being prepared.
“It is unfair that Ukraine still has to ask [weapons] which have been in the warehouses of our partners for years, “said President Vladimir Zelenski in a video address.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for a four-day humanitarian pause in the fighting next weekend as Orthodox Christians celebrate Easter to allow civilians to flee and deliver humanitarian aid.
Russia says it launched what it calls a “special military operation” on February 24 to demilitarize and “denationalize” Ukraine. Kyiv and its Western allies reject this as a false pretext.

Russia “offers Mariupol a ceasefire” to surrender
Russia’s Defense Ministry has said it will propose a ceasefire in Mariupol on Wednesday to allow Ukrainian defenders hiding in the Azovstal steel plant to lay down their arms, Reuters reported.
On Tuesday, Russian forces continued to shell the plant, where the “declining number” of Ukrainian forces continued to remain.
The defense ministry said it would begin a ceasefire at 2pm Moscow time on Wednesday (11am GMT) to allow Ukrainian fighters to surrender and leave unscathed.
Reuters noted that Russia claims to have made the same offer on Tuesday, but “no Ukrainian soldiers have accepted.”
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky promised that his forces in Mariupol will fight to the end and will ignore any ultimatums to surrender from Russia.

Russia has ordered 31 diplomats to leave the country
Russia has ordered 31 Dutch, Belgian and Austrian diplomats to leave the country as Moscow faces increased international isolation over its war in Ukraine, AFP reported.
Russia’s foreign ministry said 15 Dutch diplomats were persona non grata and gave them two weeks to leave the country.
The same deadline was given to 12 employees of the Belgian embassy.
Meanwhile, Russian officials have allowed four Austrian diplomats to leave by Sunday.
Belgium has warned that Russia’s “completely unjustified and unjustified” move will increase the country’s “international diplomatic isolation”.
“Now we have to see the consequences of the fact that so many colleagues have to leave Moscow and St. Petersburg,” said Vopke Hekstra, the Dutch foreign minister.
Further expulsions are expected.
