People rescued from the house after the roof collapsed on them

Three people were evacuated from a house after their roof collapsed.

Emergency services arrived at Wavertree Vale in Wavertree after a building collapsed. Merseyside Fire and Rescue teams were present at the property at 12:14 a.m. seven minutes earlier.

Fire crews arrived to find that the roof and gable of a detached property with a double façade had collapsed on the first floor. Teams of two firefighters, a search and rescue team and search and rescue dogs arrived on the scene.

The teams entered the building and performed a full inspection of the ground floor. Three people were found and evacuated. It has been confirmed that all three are safe and healthy and the building has already been vacated.

Merseyside police cordoned off the gas and electricity to the building. Photographs taken from the scene show a large police cordon remaining in place blocking access to Wavertree Vale. People are asked to avoid the area.
