A judge in Quebec ruled that a mother could vaccinate her young son against the new coronavirus without the father’s consent and ordered the father not to take the child to protest against COVID-19.

In a decision on April 12, Supreme Court Judge Natalie Peletier sided with the mother of the 10-year-old, who said she had learned that the boy’s father had forced him to lie about his age to avoid masking in public.

The mother says the child’s father took him to truck convoys in Ottawa last winter, claiming he wanted to instill democratic values in the boy, but she said the protests were dangerous for the children.

Meanwhile, the father said that demonstrations against COVID-19’s health orders were not risky for children and that he was entitled to dissent against the vaccine.

Pelletier found that the evidence the father had presented in court to defend his position against the COVID-19 vaccines had not been confirmed by health experts.

She ruled that vaccinating the boy against coronavirus would be in his best interest, as well as keeping him away from COVID-19 demonstrations, which she said could quickly escalate into violence.
