Fifty-five percent of patients currently receiving care were not admitted because of COVID-19, but have since tested positive. Forty-five percent were accepted because of COVID-19.

Four additional patients were admitted to the intensive care unit overnight, bringing the total number of those in intensive care with the new coronavirus to 207.

Of these patients, 83 patients were fully vaccinated, 32 were unvaccinated and four were partially vaccinated. The government did not release any other information about the vaccination on Thursday. In addition, 62% were admitted to intensive care due to their diagnosis of COVID-19, while 38% were admitted for another reason, but now the test is positive.

In addition, 17 deaths due to the disease have been reported since Wednesday, raising the number of deaths in the province to 12,678.

An additional 5,038 positive cases were also identified in the last 24 hours, although the Ministry of Health explained that the number was higher than usual due to “data clearing”.

As of yesterday, at least 20,840 tests have been conducted, which according to the province have generated a positive percentage of 18.3 percent.

The Ontario director’s scientific chart on COVID-19 said on Wednesday that he expects infections in the province to rise after the holiday weekend. However, Dr. Peter Juni said wastewater data showed a possible peak, the number of health workers tested positive for COVID-19 had risen, and positive test results had also dropped.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ontario has registered 1,229,572 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 1,184,812 cured.
