New Delhi: Instagram, owned by Meta, will change its algorithm to improve its ranking system and better highlight the original content from the creators, announced its head Adam Moseri.
The social media platform will change its ranking algorithm to emphasize the original content more on its platform.
“We’ve added new ways to tag and improve rankings: product labels, improved tags, originality rankings,” Moseri tweeted late Wednesday.
“Creators are so important to the future of Instagram and we want to make sure they are successful and get all the credit they deserve,” he added.
In response to a tweet from social media consultant Matt Navarra, Moseri noted that Instagram is already working to highlight the original content, but that it is moving more in that direction and will continue to do so.
“As we focus more on recommendations, it’s becoming increasingly important not to overestimate aggregators, as that would be bad for creators and therefore bad for Instagram in the long run,” Moseri tweeted.

Instagram said it’s important that credit and monetization go straight to the original creator.
“If you create something from scratch, you need to get more credit than if you re-share something you found from someone else. We will do more to try to appreciate more original content, especially compared to re-published content, “said the Head of Instagram.
