The economic impact of the global debate limits potential action against Russia, Yellen said

WASHINGTON – The United States and its allies are limited in their efforts to further punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, as some potential steps have no international consensus and pose risks to the global economy, said Finance Minister Janet Yellen.

Ms. Yellen has pledged an additional $ 500 million to help Ukraine pay for government spending, adding to the approximately $ 500 million the United States has already provided as non-military aid to Ukraine. Ms. Yellen said the Biden administration would soon ask Congress for more help. President Biden outlined additional military aid on Thursday.
