The man, who has already been detained, is accused of assault

The accused was at the investigation center on an unrelated issue when his staff charged him with investigating the April 7 attack.

Police visited the Algoma Treatment and Detention Center on April 20 to accuse Darin Barber-Addison of assault following an April 7 incident.

The 20-year-old was in custody on an unrelated issue at the time of his arrest, according to a press release issued by Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.

He is accused of fleeing the area after hitting the victim several times while the two were in the elevator of a residential building on Albert Street West.
