A German citizen has been declared an “official suspect” by Portuguese prosecutors as they investigate Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
Christian Bruckner, 44, was linked to the case by German authorities in June 2020, but was not charged with a crime and denied any involvement.
The Portuguese prosecutor’s office confirmed this move in a statement yesterday.
Madeleine was three years old when she disappeared from the Praia da Luz apartment where she was staying during a family holiday in Portugal in 2007. She disappeared from the resort on May 3, a few days before her fourth birthday.
German police have revealed that they are investigating a German man for her disappearance, saying they believe he killed her.
