Seven-year-old Violet Bennett, who was reported missing nearly three months ago with her father, Jesse Bennett, has been safely returned to her mother, according to the RCMP.
Violet was declared missing on January 23 after her father failed to hand her over to her mother under a joint custody agreement.
Police say Violet was left in the North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP squad on Wednesday night by someone she knows.
She has now returned to her mother, Mountis said.
“This investigation ended positively thanks to the work of our partner police agencies, the media and ultimately the public, who gave advice in the hope of finding Violet safely,” the North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP said in a statement on Thursday.
On March 23, after months of searching, police said they had gathered enough evidence to issue a kidnapping order for Jesse Bennett in violation of the detention order.
His whereabouts were not yet known to police on Thursday, and he remains wanted by warrant for all of Canada.
