We want the Cup! We want the Cup! Final score: 6-3 Oilers
How many of you have been passionate about this game all day? Raise your hands, let me see them… Personally, I couldn’t be more excited to watch the Oilers try to lock their place in the playoffs without having to rely on someone else to lose to make it happen. I don’t know about you, good people, but I wanted to feel this extra dose of satisfaction from a job well done, not from another team doing the work for us. However, beating Avalanche is one of the NHL’s toughest management tasks, so it would take a full 60 minutes to lock that sweet “X” in the standings. And while I want to say that the Oilers had a decent starting period – in fact they played pretty well for the most part – their only big mistake was at the back of the net and in the end it was the difference. When you face Colorado, you have to be firm on both sides of the puck or they will burn you, and that’s exactly what happened to their goal out of speed.
Going to the second period, the Oilers absolutely had to be the ones to score the next goal, but this job became much more difficult as they had to come up with a huge murder due to the lack of two people they faced in the jump. And just as it was necessary, the boys did their business effectively and I hoped that the incredible penalty would give a boost to our country. On my television screen, however, I thought that Kumper had too many clear eyes on the blows that were coming his way, and if the Oilers wanted to level things off, they would have to go into his grid because he was too good to be able to to see everything that comes his way. It is clear that the boys must have had the same idea, because not only did they go out to shoot, but they also smashed the blue paint, as if it were a Double Slammer in 1995. What I did not expect was that the boys would be able to pump four goals. Quemper in the second period, obviously highlighted by Evander Kane’s hat-trick. I mean, the expectation coming in the period was that the boys would find a way to connect things so that they could potentially win was a wonderful turn of events.
Going into the third period with a two-goal lead, the Oilers had to be very careful with their approach to closing things, because the Avalanche have more than enough weapons to clear each lead in a short period of time. I know I say it a lot, but it was another one of those situations where the boys couldn’t just sit in some kind of safety guard and wait for the clock to run out. They had to drop anchor on the sinking boat in Colorado without giving them a glimmer of hope that they would be able to return to this hockey game. So when Yamamoto scored to make the hockey game 5-2 in the middle of the period, my heart began to beat in anticipation of closing our chance to compete for the Stanley Cup. With the sold-out Rogers Place crowd setting, the Oilers withstood every storm Avalanche sent, finding a way to end a big game against a very good hockey team. Playoffs, darling. LFG.

THE HOLY COUNTRY
- WE REMAIN UNFEATED IN THE ERA OF BEN STELTER!
- Shortly after the Oilers eliminated a two-man deficit, Evander Kane tied the game (1-1) on a vile little transition that seemed a bit confusing to Kumper as he crossed the fold at an icy pace to try to stop the puck. Anyway, it was Kane’s huge goal at a time when his team desperately needed one. He added another goal near the middle of the second period (3-2) after business was the end of a beautiful pass game that saw Yamamoto hit Keith, who found Kane right on the side of the wide-open net to Shooting in Amazing, Kane finished the hat-trick (4-2) before the second period ended with an exquisite little hang-up through the defense before slipping his wrist through the goalkeeper, who was barely squeaking over the line.
- Just over a minute after Kane leveled, Evan Bouchard gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead after his shot bounced amicably from the boards, bounced straight into the air and fell into the fold just as Dad arrived in the fold. Mix a little luck with some damn fine hand-eye coordination, and suddenly the Oilers rose one goal.
- Kyler Yamamoto gave the Oilers extra insurance (5-2) with a big goal in the middle of the third period, which was huge not only for the team but also especially for Yamo, as he passed 13 consecutive goals without scoring. He’s another person you’d like to have at full speed as we head to the playoffs, and I hope tonight’s goal is the beginning of something.
- Chris Russell completely drained the empty player (6-3) from the other side of the ice to give himself a few points in the evening and extend his series of points to three games. Damn it, cowboy!
- Although I thought Woodcroft could return to Koskinen to keep him active, Mike Smith understandably returned between the trumpets for his fourth straight run and was tasked with concluding the Clinch celebration. Balanced and confident, Smith gave his team another solid performance and he made the saves your starter had to make without any rubbish to ruin the night. Although he was not perfect, he easily surpassed his colleague and gave his team the goalkeepers they needed to close the playoffs. Smith finished the evening with 34 saves and 0,919 saves.
- How about another casual three-point night for Connor McDavid? If Connor has scored six points in his last two games, it’s not his version to tell Huberdo to get angry, then I don’t know what is.
- How about another round of applause for Oilers’ PC after they killed ALL SIX situations they face? Incredible murder with a penalty tonight.
- The Spreadsheet Society would like to inform you that the Oilers finished with 53.09 CF% and 57.54 xGF%.
- Tonight I counted the can opener in two.
- How can you not like to see that the Oilers won 55% of the matches? You love him, just admit it and you will feel better.
THE FACE FAR
- Valery Nichushkin put Avalanche on the board (1-0) with a chance to get rid of the quick attack that came as the Oilers were caught being too aggressive in the offensive zone. Although I appreciated the attack pressure, the boys had to do a better job of taking care of the defensive side of the puck, because Avalanche will absolutely burn you if you slop. Just 15 seconds after Bouchard gave the Oilers the lead, Nichushkin won his second of the night (2-2) with a wrist blow after high tide, which turned out to be one of the only goals Smith wished he had scored.
- With an empty net, Nathan McKinnon pulled Avalanche to two goals (5-3) with a vile wrist through the traffic that made its way through Smith.
- Darnell Nurse left the game in the second period with some lower body injury and did not return. I don’t think I need to explain to anyone reading this why this is bad news for the Edmonton Oilers.
- If I’m going to be picky, it’s about Oilers, who will go 0-for-2 in the power game. As incredibly good as it is to score five goals with equal strength and an empty goal, you will be happy for PP to work at full steam as we head to the playoffs. We know that whistles can disappear sometimes, so the boys will have to take advantage of any chances they have.
- Korsky did not go our way, as Avalanche overtook our boys by 37-27.
- All I will say is that the referees were an adventure. I think that’s enough, but I also know you understand.

They have an employee (in the past I had friends from the web team who took part in the photos) who is about the same size as the stand in the team photo, then take a picture of Kane with the same lighting setting and just photoshop his head in the photo. .
