There is a good chance that Google’s long-standing hearing smartwatch will be called the Pixel Watch. The technology giant has filed documents with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the trademark “Pixel Watch”, reports 9to5Google. In its application, Google wrote that the name is intended to “cover the categories of smart watches”, “wearable computers in the nature of smart watches”, as well as cases, straps and straps for smart watches.
The trademark application does not contain additional details about the device. But based on previous rumors and leaks in imaging, the company’s first in-house smartwatch will have a round face without a frame. It is expected to have a heart rate sensor and other features found in devices from Fitbit, which Google also purchased in 2021. It is reported that the device will cost more than Fitbit and will be a real competitor to the Apple Watch. It is also expected to work with Wear OS 3, the upcoming wearable platform of the technology giant, which will make its way only to a handful of current smart watches.
John Prosser, who is known for the leak of upcoming technology releases, said earlier that Google plans to launch its first smartwatch on May 26. This does not sound unlikely, as the date coincides with the technology giant’s annual I / O conference, which is usually held in May. However, as 9to5Google points out, Google has to go through several more regulatory hurdles before launching the device. As the device has not yet been spotted in the lists of the Federal Communications Commission and Bluetooth SIG, May 26 may be too early to present.
