The video, compiled by the cameras of the bodies of the three police officers involved in Syracuse, shows the moment when the boy was detained and then dragged to the cruiser, where he was placed in the back seat.
The SPD footage came after a video of the incident, posted on Sunday, went viral on social media, prompting condemnation from Mayor and Governor Kati Hochul.
Sergeant Mark Rusin told a news conference that it was obvious the boy was not handcuffed, as originally thought.

A police officer identified as Officer Matthew Behuniak was seen grabbing the boy’s hood, trying to remove it from his motorcycle, before a passerby, Kenneth Jackson, the man who posted the viral video, asked to remove his hands from the child.
Behuniak and another officer, David Circiriello, can be heard trying to explain Jackson’s situation, but the boy’s screaming and fighting and trying to get out of the car are distracting.

Eventually, the child stays in the car – even though he kicks and screams – while Behuniak takes him home, warning the child that if he wants to avoid such a situation, he should stop stealing, despite the boy’s protests that he did not take anything.
Behunyak explained the incident to the boy’s father, who was visibly disappointed, even asking if the children could be detained for a while, but officials said this was impossible due to the age and pettiness of the crime.

The staff, father and children then discuss the whole episode as well as the children’s behavior.
“Some of the videos are difficult to watch,” First Deputy Chief Joe Cecil told a news conference. “This morning you saw more body cameras video of what happened that day, a well-rounded story with a positive result.”
However, many on social media believe that employees have gone too far.
“They traumatized this little boy over a bag of chips?” Unbelievable, “one person tweeted.
Another added: “So if it is alleged that a small child steals a bag of chips, they grab him from the bike, handcuff him and put him in the back of the team car. If a man goes to church and kills 9 people, they take his McDonald’s. Am I right? “
