Although Saturday’s game between the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs will not have much of an impact on playoffs, the Panthers won the division title and No. 1 in the Eastern Conference, and the Maple Leafs are six points ahead of No. 3 Tampa Bay Lightning. we will follow this closely to decipher more evidence of the viability of each club as a contender for the Stanley Cup.

It could be the case that each of the eight teams in the East qualifies for the Cup final. For Panthers and Leafs, even getting there would be a remarkable achievement; The Leafs did not advance to the first round of the playoffs in 2004, and the Panthers have not won a playoff series since 1996. The Panthers’ path to the playoffs will begin with a game against the East’s first wild card club, currently the Washington Capitals; The Maple Leafs are currently positioned to face two-time defending champion Lightning. Money Puck gave the Panthers a 63% chance to advance to the second round and the Leafs a 64.2% chance.

If both teams win this series in the first round, they will catch up, with the winner facing the surviving Metropolitan Division in the bracket and then advancing to the Stanley Cup final if they win against it. Overall, the chances of the Panthers Cup this year are 9.6%, while the chances of Leafs are 12.2%.

When we enter the final stage of the regular season 2021-22, it’s time to check out all the playoffs – along with the teams vying for positions in the NHL 2022 Draft Lottery.

Competition for selection number 1

The NHL uses a draft lottery to determine the order at the top of the first round, so the team that finishes last is not guaranteed to be selected №1. From 2021, a team can rise by a maximum of 10 places if it wins the lottery, so that only 11 teams qualify for the №1 draw. Full details of the process can be found here. The draft lottery for 2022 will take place on May 10.
