“I do not think it is a secret that people from the United States are coming to us tomorrow, Secretary of State Mr. Blinken and Secretary of Defense (Lloyd Austin) who are coming to us,” Zelensky told a news conference at a metro station in the Ukrainian capital. .
Zelenski added: “We will expect, when security allows, the President of the United States to come and talk to us.”
Zelensky told CNN’s Jake Tapper last week that he would like President Joe Biden to visit Ukraine.
“I think he will,” Zelenski said, adding that this was Biden’s decision and would depend on the security situation.
Biden, who previously suggested he wanted to go to Ukraine, said earlier this month that he was working with his team to determine if he should send a senior member of his administration to the country.
The White House and the State Department declined to comment on Blinken and Austin’s potential trip to Ukraine on Saturday.
CNN asked the US Department of Defense for comment.
Biden said Thursday that the United States will send an additional $ 800 million in military aid to Ukraine as the Russian invasion soon enters its third month in what US authorities warn could be a potentially bloody new phase.
New shipments include heavy artillery and 144,000 rounds of ammunition.
The United States sent a military aid package of similar size earlier this month, which included Mi-17 helicopters, howitzer guns, Switchblade drones and protective equipment.
