After the first almost final look earlier this week, real images of the Google Pixel Watch leaked today.
These real photos – taken on the Galaxy Tab S7 or S8 – were sent to Android Central by someone who found something that looked like a prototype of the Pixel Watch after “apparently left and found in a restaurant in the US” It’s remarkably reminiscent for the time when a prototype iPhone 4 was lost in a bar and was shared by Gizmodo. This happened 12 years and 4 days ago (a sign that the weather is round.) There was a time when the Pixel 3 XL was left in the back of a car (Lyft).
The images show a very elegant Pixel Watch – when viewed from the front – which corresponds to previous leaks. The display is curved to the very edge, although you can see the metal underside of one of the photos at an angle. There is only one image of the wearable device and this is only the home screen with a white “G” on a black background. Thus, we cannot see the full range of the display and how thick the frame is.
New Pixel Watch, with a trademark yesterday confirming the name, details derived from leaked images include how there is a pill-shaped button above the crown. This configuration matches perfectly with the user interface layouts of Wear OS 3 from Google I / O 2021. You should be able to press this top button twice to quickly switch to your last used application.
It lies flush with the hull and is otherwise barely noticeable when looking at the wearer straight. Under the silver crown, which is really shaped like a bottom cap, there is a hole for what can be a microphone or altimeter (to track the number of stairs).
The bulbous back itself is determined by a pill with four square cutouts lined horizontally. They are thought to be for the heart rate sensor and other health features. As they decrease, both halves suggest the possibility of an ECG (electrocardiogram).
We get a very good look at the mechanism of the watch strap, which seems to be patented by nature and is probably aimed at quickly switching the strap. In Fitbit language, this is an “endless strip” with contour (s) and peg design.
At the top is what should be a diagnostic port, which is similar in nature to the Apple Watch. This can only be present on the prototype hardware and will in no way be user / accessible.
