The provincial police supervisor is investigating after a Waterloo police officer shot dead a 22-year-old man in Cambridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Special Investigations Department (SIU) said Waterloo Regional Police officers were called to a residence in the Ironstone and Sandalwood Drives area shortly before 12:30 a.m. for a health check.
Upon the arrival of the police, there was an interaction between a man and police officers.
SIU said an officer fired his firearm at the man. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The agency assigned four investigators and two forensic scientists to the case.
