The fire in the apartment in Omaha destroyed the home of the future resident

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A large fire in an unfinished residential complex destroyed the future home of at least one resident.

Seven hours after the battle began, firefighters and onlookers were startled by the sound and sight of the collapsing roof of the structure.

Moments later, the shock came to Kate Tionsong. She had to move into a new apartment once it was completed.

“We moved from Roseville, California last Monday and were the first to place our furniture in Apartment 401 on the corner,” Thionson said. “My whole life and everything was there, we flew here, so nothing but memories.”

Kate Thiongson and her husband were ready to move into the Ovation Senior Facility, a wounded 500-acre gem of the Heartwood Preserve Development.

According to Ovation, no one has yet moved into the new home.

“Fortunately, none of our residents have moved in yet, and we are extremely grateful for that,” said General Manager Stephanie Grade. We will assess the situation as soon as it is safe for us to tour the building and announce our progress plan as soon as possible.

The Thiongson family waited a while to move into their new home.

“Several years have passed, we have been promised that it will be ready in January,” Tionsong added.

According to Scott Fitzpatrick, chief of the Omaha Fire Department, officers are still working to find the cause of the fire.

“We are still actively fighting it, so we could not get there, our fire investigators, to try to begin to determine the cause, it will be a difficult task, to get there with the look of a roof of burnt at this point, “said Fitzpatrick.

Now, days after moving, the Thiongson family found themselves in their new city without belongings or a home.
