A tenant in South Lake Tahoe, California, has finally figured out what these strange purrs, rumbles and knocks he heard under the floorboards all winter are. Last week, the tenant thought he heard something like a bear growl, according to CNN, which prompted him to call the local BEAR league – which deals with all sorts of things related to massive mammals. They lit up in the creeping space under the house and found a black bear mother and her four cubs waking up from their winter hibernation, where they had probably been since December. An unnamed tenant said he asked neighbors in the one-story house if they had heard any noise, but apparently the bears were just below his part of the apartment. Eventually, the bears were brought to safety.
