A Ukrainian mother and her 3-month-old baby were among eight killed after a Russian missile strike in Odessa, according to a report.
“She was a mother. She is no more. Nor is her 3-month-old baby girl Kira,” said Ukrainian MP Lesia Vaslenko, posting a photo of the deceased woman.
Eighteen others were injured and several buildings were destroyed in Saturday’s attack. A number of other victims are believed to be still in ruins, the Kyiv Independent reported.

The woman gave birth to the child just a month before the Russian invasion began and posted a photo during the war to celebrate the child’s birthday.
“It was the best 40 weeks. Our baby girl is already 1 month old. Dad got his first flowers. This is a whole new level of happiness, “said the February post, which was shared online after their deaths.

The attack also caused extensive damage to a 16-storey residential complex in Arcadia, a residential area in Odessa, the Kyiv Independent reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the attack during a press conference Saturday afternoon, vowing to avenge those responsible. The Ukrainian military later reported that the missiles had been fired by a Russian Tu-95 bomber from the Caspian Sea.
