11:00 am – Temperatures may be slightly lower than forecast today
The cool air wedge mentioned in today’s forecast below has penetrated far enough south to slow the rise in temperatures this morning. Although we expect the sun to rise this afternoon, the high temperatures may be a few degrees lower than below – probably in the low 70’s, not in the mid-70’s in the immediate vicinity.
Somewhat subjective assessment of the time of day, on a scale from zero to 10.
8/10: Pretty good start to the week with the 70’s and partial sunshine.
- today: Partly sunny. Maximum: 67-77.
- Tonight: Mostly cloudy, torn fog. Low: 55 to 59.
- tomorrow: Rainfall, mostly in the afternoon. Maximum: 70 to 74.
The heat over the weekend was well scheduled and it could be more than a week before it got so warm again. Our weather is cooler this week with the 70’s today and tomorrow, and then only the 50’s and 60’s for the rest of the week. Until it gets cooler, we will have a lot of sun with precipitation only in the forecast for Tuesday and Sunday.
Today (Monday): It is not an easy forecast today. A wedge of cool air due to ocean winds can penetrate our northern suburbs. We will probably see quite a range in the highs throughout the region, with the upper 70s to about 80s around Fredericksburg, but perhaps only from the mid to upper 60s around Baltimore. In the immediate DC zone, the mid-1970s seem most likely for partial sunshine highs. The wind is from the east at a speed of about 10 mph with possible gusts above 15 mph. Confidence: Medium
Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy skies with places for fog. Low levels are established in the mid to over 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Rain is possible at any time, but most likely between noon and late afternoon. They don’t have to be many (usually less than a tenth of an inch) and we may have enough partial sunshine to reach highs in the mid-70s. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: It may rain in the evening, but then the sky should gradually clear. It became noticeably cooler with low levels in the 1940s, as winds came from the northwest around 10 mph with some higher gusts. Confidence: Medium-High
Sunny sky Wednesday and Thursday but it feels more like the end of March than the end of April. Both days the maximum values are struggling to reach 60. On Wednesday night we can not rule out the occurrence of frost late, as low temperatures drop to low by the mid-30s in our colder regions and closer to 40 in center. Thursday night is only a few degrees softer. Confidence: Medium-High
Temperatures are moderate Friday and Saturday but it is still cooler than normal for the last days of April. The maximum values are in the mid-60s on Friday and above the 60s on Saturday. The lowest at night are mostly around 40. Confidence: Medium-High
Frontal system moving in the region Sunday offers the possibility of periodic showers. However, it does not look like washing. The maximum values - in the mid-60s – are still cooler than normal (low 70s). Confidence: Medium
