SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) – A suspect in a video of a boy being taken from his San Jose apartment abducts a baby while his grandmother unloads groceries, police told a news conference Monday.
“The baby was wearing a white T-shirt with dinosaurs on it, long sleeves, that’s what we’re looking for right now,” said the sergeant. Christian Camarillo of the San Jose Police Department.
Family members shared photos of the baby with ABC7 News. Officials say Brandon’s grandmother took him shopping with her and the two have just returned home.
“She took the baby into the apartment, went downstairs to unload some groceries, and in that short time someone came into the apartment,” said a sergeant. Camarillo.
Police say the boy’s grandmother, who watched him while his mother was at work, called around 1pm to say the child had been taken. She is said to have taken 3-month-old Brandon Cuelar to a bedroom while unloading groceries from her car. Officials say the baby was taken in just a few minutes.
Officials say the grandmother did not see the suspect enter the apartment.

Officials say surveillance photos are all they need to continue at this point, and tell us that the family does not recognize the face in the video. They say no Amber Alert has been issued because there is no description of the vehicle to be given.
Neighbors we spoke to responded to the video.
“If you saw the video, he was coming down, a hat with a face mask pulled into his jacket, he almost knew what he was looking for or he knew what he wanted to do because he wasn’t looking around,” said Rachel Rosette, who lives nearby.
“I do not recognize that I have ever seen him here before, but as I said from time to time, we will take someone I have not seen. They will usually ride a bicycle, “said Jerry Jaszkowski.

– Media Relations of the San Jose Police (@SJPD_PIO) April 26, 2022. Police say Brandon’s mother was at work when he was abducted. They say Brandon’s father is currently in prison, but they would not specify this, but only said they would talk to him.
Officers made a desperate plea to the public Monday night.
“Today someone is walking with a 3-month-old baby who was not there yesterday. If you have this baby, please return this baby to his mother. We can deal with the consequences after that. Everyone who is a mother or a father, you love nothing more than you love your child, this mother is going through a very, very difficult time, as well as a grandmother. “Grandma was left in charge of the baby and the baby is gone,” said Sergeant Camarillo.
