A mother from California fatally stabbed her family’s pit bulls after dogs attacked her one-year-old daughter and other family members on Sunday night, a report said.
The two dogs attacked the young child when she started crying at the family home in Pico Rivera, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office told KABC.
The girl suffered a fracture of the thigh and was bitten on her left leg, shoulder and ear before the dogs attacked her mother while she tried to stop the attack. The mother was bitten on the lip and face near the eye, cops said.
The young child’s grandmother, Margaret Ann Morales, said she was in bed when she heard members of her family screaming.
“I went into the kitchen and then (I saw) … my two daughters and my son on the floor, trying to get the dogs out,” she said at the exit.

“She finally became my daughter, and so did I.” [saw] my granddaughter. I [saw] the dog was clasped on her left leg. Then I really had to put my hand in his jaw and open it, and then he let go. ”

Morales and her other daughter also suffered some injuries as the dogs continued to attack until the young child’s mother grabbed the knife and stabbed both dogs, killing them.

All four relatives were taken to hospital.
The dogs have been raised by the family since puppies and were about three and a half years old, KABC reported.
